King Louie is a Queer, Filipino-Canadian filmmaker committed to uncompromising visions that challenge conventional paradigms. He works to encourage dialogue and foster community through his films. Over the years, King has produced projects that have been screened at local and international film festivals. He is an alumna of the 2024 CFC Norman Jewison Film Program: Director’s Lab.
As a writer-director, King's credits include NENE (Standout Director at the 21st Reelworld Film Festival), STAY (Runner-up for the Jury Award for Best Narrative Short at Out on Film: Atlanta’s LGBTQ Film Fest), and INANG REYNA (deadCenter 2025, Whistler 2025, Reeling Chicago 2025), which was created during his residency at the Canadian Film Center. His latest directorial film is GOODBYE, WITH A SIDE OF LECHON.
As a producer, King's credits include CROSSROADS, which was featured by Viddsee, and LOST BENEATH THE STARS (Warsaw 2018, Edmonton 2018). He also produced THE LONELIEST BOY IN THE WORLD (featured on Directors Notes and Booooom TV) and AUGANIC (Palm Springs Shortfest 2024, Hollyshorts 2024), which won ‘Best Live-Action Short’ at the deadCenter Film Festival and was long-listed for the 97th Oscars.
King Louie works in the visual effects industry as a Production Manager. His credits include THE LAST OF US S1 (HBO), which won the 75th Emmys for Outstanding Special Visual Effects. He currently works at Netflix’s Eyeline Studios.
King is currently developing his first feature-length film.
